Part-Time Psychologist
Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School is seeking a part-time licensed psychologist to support the efforts of its learning and testing accommodations review committee.
Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in clinical, counseling, or school psychology
- NYS psychologist license
- Experience reading and interpreting student neuropsychological/ psychoeducational (or comparable) evaluations
- Familiarity with a range of diagnostic tests, and experience administering diagnostic tests, making clinical diagnoses, and making recommendations based on diagnostic evaluation data
- Familiarity with the diagnostic criteria for common learning/cognitive/psychiatric disorders
- Experience communicating with teachers, parents, and students regarding learning/testing accommodations
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills
- Up-to-date knowledge of relevant legal frameworks (ADA, IDEA, Section 504, etc.) and how these apply in an independent school context
Responsibilities
- Attend 1-3 accommodations committee team meetings per month
- Review student neuropsychological/psychoeducational evaluations and all other collateral materials submitted to the committee for accommodations review
- Assist the committee in integrating information from diagnostic evaluations with teacher input, school records, and other information in reviewing the evidence for (a) different diagnoses, (b) disability qualification under ADA, and (c) a need for specific accommodations or other services
- Communicate committee decisions to the families, and address questions about decisions
- Communicate/consult with other committee members, including learning specialists, administrators, and our SSD testing coordinator
- Communicate with external diagnosticians and other clinicians as needed
- Assist the accommodations committee with on-going professional development and other related opportunities
Work Hours
- 10-15 hours per week dedicated to the tasks described above
- Attendance at meetings will be in person; all other work will be done remotely
- Start date: August 2023
Compensation
The salary range for this role is: $71,000 - $150,000. (The base full time salary and percentage will depend on actual weekly hours contracted).
