Grammar School After School Assistant (part time)
AFTER-SCHOOL ASSISTANT
An After-School Assistant will assist in building a nurturing and safe learning environment for children by being responsible for supervising students in various settings during unstructured times. Under the direction and supervision of the Grammar School Assistant Director and Grammar School Social Worker, the Assistant is responsible for setting up materials and supervising after school groups. The ideal candidate must enjoy working with children and treat all children with dignity and respect. To excel in this role, the candidate must be flexible, attentive, and willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the CGPS’s program and philosophy.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee and supervise unstructured play during after school hours
- Provide data on students and document observations about student behavior
- Communicate proactively and professionally about students with teaching and non-teaching staff bearing in mind the impact of confidentiality regarding vulnerable persons
- Support the school’s culture and practices for inclusion
- Conduct all work activities in a professional manner
- Demonstrate commitment to working in a school community
QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong commitment to, belief in, and alignment with CGPS’s mission and values
- Strong time management skills; ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Strong organizational skills, communication skills (particularly with children), and problem-solving skills
- Hard-working, energetic, reflective, and willing to learn and adapt
WORK HOURS
Monday - Friday: 2:45 pm - 5:45 pm
COMPENSATION
Salary Range for this position: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
