Alumni Engagement Manager and Events Coordinator
Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School is seeking a strategic partner to join an ever-growing and dynamic advancement team. The incoming alumni engagement manager and events coordinator will take the lead, while working closely with the entire advancement team, in engaging with our alumni, working with our events manager on a series of community events throughout the school year, and hosting our alumni both on campus and regionally. This is an exciting time to join the CGPS advancement team and with this position comes incredible opportunities to work toward historic fundraising initiatives, build new chances for our families to get further involved in our events and programs, and to be part of re-establishing an alumni association at a school with a rich and diverse history. Key Responsibilities
- Managing all alumni engagement and relations efforts for CGPS.
- Establish and build relationships with a wide range of alumni locally, regionally, nationally and internationally
- Plan, implement and promote programs that strategically engage alumni and that are consistent with the School’s rich traditions.
- Work closely with the newly established Alumni Advisory on strategic planning and implementation of initiatives as well as cultivating board prospects.
- Work in tandem with our Events Manager to plan our annual Reunion Weekend celebration that takes place on campus each May.
- Working with our Communications and Marketing department, recruit and manage class notes, class agents and reunion volunteers while working to grow the alumni volunteer base through the creation of new opportunities.
- Ensure accurate and complete alumni database records; find new and creative ways to obtain and update alumni contact, biographical and career information.
- Working with the Director of Institutional Advancement, establish a 3, 4, and 5 year plan to engage with alumni, ask alumni to participate in working with our current students, and begin to create a plan for an alumni scholarship fund.
- Participate in the life of the School and be able to report to alumni about on-going programs, student accomplishments and life on campus.
- Working under the tutelage of our Events Manager, assist in planning, implementing, and executing a series of community events throughout the school year.
- Meet with various alumni engagement web providers and decide which one would be the best fit for CGPS and plan a launch date for our new alumni engagement platform.
- Work closely with our Communications team on launching several CGPS alumni social media platforms.
Ideal Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Three or more years of experience in school or not-for-profit organization(s), in the areas of events, alumni relations, communications, and/or advancement.
- Strong computer skills, including experience with Google Drive and Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
- Strong organizational and managerial skills, preferably with experience facilitating volunteer activities.
- Experience Blackbaud/Raiser's Edge or a willingness to learn.
- Experience with CMS (e.g. Finalsite).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working in the fundraising field or equivalent.
- Willingness to work nights and weekends as required.
Work Hours
- 8:30 am until 5:00 pm; Monday through Friday
- Effective date: Jul 1, 2023
- Weekends and travel as needed for the position
Compensation
The salary range for this position is $70,000-$90,000 annually. We also offer exceptional benefits and a warm and supportive culture.
