Middle School History Teacher (Leave Replacement)

 

Teachers hold primary responsibility for the implementation and development of the CGPS curriculum and the success of its students. The Middle School History Teacher is committed to continuously improving curriculum and instruction for these subject areas through collaboration as part of a grade level departmental team.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implements curricula and activities to meet academic standards
  • Designs and implement assessments that measure progress towards academic standards
  • Uses assessment data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices
  • Participates in collaborative curriculum development, grade-level activities, and school-wide functions
  • Provides consistent rewards and/or consequences for student behavior
  • Is accountable for students’ mastery of academic standards
  • Communicates effectively with students, families, and colleagues
  • Provides a multitude of cultural lenses to instruction
  • Creates classroom and school environment where students are expected to take responsibilities for their decisions and conduct themselves with excellent character

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required; Master's degree preferred and NYS Teaching Certification is helpful but not required
  • Mastery of and enthusiasm for History;
  • Drive to improve the minds and lives of students in and out of the classroom;
  • Proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom;
  • Evidence of self-motivation and willingness to be a team player;
  • Belief in and alignment with CGPS’ core beliefs and educational philosophy is non-negotiable
 

WORK HOURS:

  • 7:45am - 3:30pm
  • Weekly after-school faculty and department meetings
  • Leave Replacement beginning August 25, 2025 through November 14, 2025
 

COMPENSATION:

The salary range for this position is $71,000- $118,500 annually based on completed degree programs and years of experience. We also offer a warm and supportive culture as well as exceptional benefits including but not limited to:
