Assistant/Associate Director of Grammar & Middle School Admission

Columbia Grammar & Preparatory School seeks a full-time Assistant/Associate Director of Grammar & Middle School Admission. This position will be responsible for promoting all CGPS programs, recruiting and enrolling a diverse community of mission-aligned students and families, who value the unique culture and programmatic offerings of CGPS. The ideal candidate will have experience in admission or teaching, preferably in an independent school setting, and an interest in being involved in school-wide committees and activities. The candidate will also have a passion for working with students and families and an eagerness to collaborate with others. In addition, the candidate must possess strong technical and organizational skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, and take initiative.  The candidate should be driven to explore ways to solve problems and support the team and school in their work. 

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree is required and a Master’s degree is preferred
  • Experience working in independent schools as a teacher or administrator.
  • Ability to think strategically, critically, and creatively.
  • Strong communication (verbal, written, interpersonal) skills and leadership qualities.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Experience with admission databases, Veracross a plus
  • Solid experience with Google Suite, MS Office, Excel
  • Demonstrated organization and planning skills; strong attention to detail, as well as follow-up and follow-through skills to ensure the completion of goals and objectives.
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Commitment to confidentiality and good judgment on sensitive matters.

 

Responsibilities 

  • Include but are not limited to:
    • Manage the coordination of events: open houses, campus tours, assessments, revisits, etc.
    • Tour and interview applicants
    • Read and evaluate applications
    • Serve on Admission committees
    • Assistant with the processing of the applications and supporting materials
    • Follow up with applicants’ families as needed
    • Represent CGPS at school fairs and school visits
    • Manage the Parent Admission Ambassador program

 

  • In addition, the candidate will demonstrate the following:
    • Dedication to the goal of creating and maintaining a vibrant and inclusive community
    • Knowledge of best practices and current trends in admission, especially PreKindergarten through Grade 5.
    • Exceptional interpersonal skills to work effectively with a diverse group of people, including students, parents, faculty, and staff
    • A growth mindset and ability to work in a highly collaborative team environment
    • Strategic thinking and problem-solving with an ability to see the big picture

Work Hours

  • 8:00am - 4:00pm Monday through Friday
  • Effective date: Jul 1, 2023

 

Compensation 

The salary range for this position is $75,000 - $90,000 annually. We also offer exceptional benefits and a warm and supportive culture.
