GRAMMAR SCHOOL SCIENCE TEACHER (LEAVE REPLACEMENT)

The Grammar School Science teacher will teach as a member of the Science Department, the STEM Committee, and the Grammar School Faculty. This is a leave replacement position that will start immediately and end of the semester (late January) but will have the possibility of extending through the end of the school year.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create, prepare and teach lessons in the designated subject areas in accordance with the curriculum of CGPS
  • Teach curricula and activities to meet academic standards;
  • Assist with developing, reviewing, and updating curriculum in conjunction with Grammar School teaching team and Grammar School Director
  • Design and administer assessments that measure progress towards academic standards
  • Use assessment data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices
  • Maintain anecdotal and assessment records in preparation for parent conferences and report writing.
  • Lead differentiated instruction and provide meaningful, individualized feedback and support to students. 
  • Participate in collaborative curriculum development, and school-wide functions;
  • Be accountable for students’ mastery of academic standards;
  • Maintain consistent close communication with families about each child’s progress
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues
  • Engage in professional development opportunities presented by school and also seek out development from reputable outside organizations
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to, belief in, and alignment with CGPS’s mission and values
  • Assumes responsibility for assigned duties
  • Assists with coverage of classrooms when needed and available
  • Any additional duties as assigned by the Grammar School Divisional Director.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Belief in and alignment with Columbia Grammar’s core beliefs and educational philosophy Drive to improve the minds and lives of students in and out of the classroom
  • Proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom
  • Mastery of and enthusiasm for academic subjects
  • Evidence of self-motivation and willingness to be a team player
  • Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree is preferred
  • Responsive Classroom Training is a plus, willingness to take the course is necessary
  • Minimum of two years teaching experience
  • Valid State Certification is helpful but not required
 

WORK HOURS

  • Leave replacement to start immediately and end of the semester (late January) but will have the possibility of extending through the end of the school year.
  • Work hours are 7:45 am - 3:15 pm with occasional faculty meetings and/or department meetings through 3:45 pm

COMPENSATION

The salary range for this position is $76,000 - $118,500 annually based on completed degree programs and years of experience. We also offer a warm and supportive culture as well as exceptional benefits including but not limited to:
